STATEWIDE - Whether you're looking for a last-minute holiday gift idea, or just looking to give back, state leaders are urging Nebraskans to make donations before the end of the year.

State Treasurer Tom Briese says Nebraskans that contribute to Enable Savings Plans or NEST529 college savings plans before December 31st can take advantage of end-of-year tax deductible contributions.

Nebraska’s Enable Savings Plan encourages people with a disability to save for future disability expenses.

Anyone who donates to a savings plan on the crowdfunding website and files a Nebraska state income tax return can deduct up to $10,000 from their income taxes.

Briese says Enable plans allow participants to raise needed funds through donations from family, friends, and others, like a GoFundMe, but with recipients getting direct access to the donations as opposed to a traditional crowdfunding webpage.
