Semi driver rescued after truck slides into irrigation ditch near Sterling
A semi-truck pulling an empty cattle trailer veered off Highway 14 near County Road 29 and ended up in an irrigation ditch Tuesday morning, prompting a multi-agency response.
STERLING, Colo. - A semi-truck pulling an empty cattle trailer veered off Highway 14 near County Road 29 and ended up in an irrigation ditch Tuesday morning, prompting a multi-agency response.
According to the Sterling Fire Department, the incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m., when Station 1 crews, the Logan County Sheriff's Office and Colorado State Patrol were dispatched to the scene.
The driver of the semi, who was not injured, was unable to exit the vehicle due to water in the ditch. Emergency responders used ladders to access the cab and safely remove the driver and his dog.
The fire department reported crews remained on-site to assist Little Tornado Recovery work to extract the semi from the ditch.
