Battle Creek man arrested for child abuse, terroristic threats
BATTLE CREEK, Neb. -- A Battle Creek man was arrested following alleged threats he made involving a woman and her children.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office said that around 12:41 p.m. they received a call about 49-year-old Neal Dittman barricading himself inside a house, threatening to burn in down with himself and three others inside with him.
Law enforcement said that at the time of the call, the caller said she was upstairs with her children, and they were trying to get out of the house.
The woman said Dittman was very drunk and was lighting off fireworks downstairs, inside the house.
The Sheriff's Office said not too long before they arrived, the woman and children were able to get out of the house and away from the area.
When they arrived, MCSO said Dittman walked outside and started talking to the deputies at the scene.
After a short negotiation, Dittman agreed to peacefully surrender and was arrested.
Dittman was arrested for two counts of child abuse and three counts of terroristic threats.
MCSO said that Battle Creek schools were placed on lockdown for a short period of time.
