CHADRON – Dr. Derry Ebert, a veteran administrator with more than 30 years of experience in higher education, has been named Chadron State College’s Vice President for Enrollment Management. Ebert, who is the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services at Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana, begins at CSC May 1.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Ebert at Chadron State College,” said President Ron K. Patterson. “Dr. Ebert has contributed to successful enrollment initiatives wherever he’s served, and I am confident his experience and talents within enrollment management will position Chadron State College well.”

Ebert said that during his three decades in higher education he has worked most of his time in roles that focused on enrollment management, admissions, financial aid, and marketing. He said he’s eager to bring his community-minded approach to Chadron State College.

“It’s easy to see Chadron State College is a special place. A big draw for me was the commitment the college and community have when it comes to focusing on the students and their continued success,” Ebert said. “A focus on creating a wonderful community – on campus and off campus – is important to me, and I felt that while I toured campus and Chadron.”

Ebert has a wealth of experience to draw upon in his new role at CSC. He has worked within large community college systems, public and private institutions, and has experience within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. At Ivy Tech, Ebert has contributed to new student enrollment growth each semester since the spring of 2021 and has successfully designed an enrollment plan to meet campus goals.

Prior to Ivy Tech, Ebert was the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing at Warner University in Florida, the Associate Vice President and Dean for Traditional Enrollment at Mid America Nazarene University in Kansas, and the Dean of Enrollment at Colorado Christian University.

“At every campus where I’ve worked, the team has reversed enrollment declines,” he said. “Achieving positive enrollment growth is always a team effort, and that will be a key goal at CSC. I look forward to strengthening and expanding CSC’s culture of success, ensuring the institution remains a pillar of excellence in western Nebraska. During my time on campus, it was easy to see the passion the employees in Enrollment Management have for their jobs and for students. You can tell they are committed to helping students succeed and I can’t wait to assist in those efforts.”

Ebert, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Theology and a Bachelor of Science in Specialized Ministries from Mid-American Christian University in Oklahoma City, served in a variety of roles at his alma mater. He was the Director of Recruitment and Public Relations, the Registrar and Director of Admissions, Director of Technology, Director of Financial Aid, and finally the Vice President for Student Services.

Ebert also has a Master of Science in Management from Southern Nazarene University and earned a doctorate in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University in 2024.

While Ebert is excited about working at Chadron State College, it’s also a homecoming of sorts. His wife, Brenda, grew up in Gordon, Nebraska, and both of her parents are CSC alumni.
