Sidney Fire Department thanks community for support in upgrading rescue tools

SIDNEY — The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department completed a major upgrade to its extrication equipment thanks to the support of local residents, businesses and community partners.
In a statement this week, the department expressed its gratitude to the citizens of Sidney, Rural Fire District 1, Nelnet, and Love’s Truck Stop for their generous contributions to the project.
“These enhancements significantly improve our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to accidents and rescues,” the department said. “Your support has played a vital role in helping us complete our project to upgrade our extrication tools, ensuring we are better equipped to serve and protect our community in times of emergency.”
Extrication tools are essential for firefighters when responding to vehicle accidents, allowing them to safely and efficiently remove individuals trapped in wreckage. The new upgrades are expected to enhance the department’s response times and effectiveness in critical situations.
The department praised the community’s commitment to local emergency services, calling it “a reflection of the incredible spirit of generosity that makes Sidney and its surrounding areas so special.”
“We deeply appreciate your dedication to our mission,” the department added. “We look forward to continuing to serve with enhanced capabilities made possible by your generosity.”
