Veteran grave markers prepared for Memorial Day service
PANHANDLE -- Volunteers offered some of their Friday morning to prepare for Memorial Day Services.
In Sidney, volunteers met at Greenwood Cemetery to place flags at headstones of veterans. The solemn effort is done in preparation for Monday's Memorial Day Service.
Sidney's Memorial Day Services will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, Greenwood Cemetery. Services start at 10 a.m. with Dennis Tuzicka, American Legion Post # 17, as the MC.
In Dalton, a public Memorial Service honoring the veterans of Dalton and the surrounding area will be held at the Dalton Cemetery. The service will start at 10 A.M. Monday, May 26. The guest speaker is Pete Morgan. He joined the United States Marine Corps in December 1973 and retired November of 1994 as Company Gunnery / First Sergeant.
The American Legion Mintken-Davison Post 0301, Sons of the American Legion Post 0301 and American Legion Auxiliary sponsors the service. Rain Location will be at the Legion Hall.
A Memorial Day Service is planned for Potter. The service will be held 10 a.m. at Prairie West Church, then at the cemetery.
In Lodgepole, the service will be held at 10 a.m. at the cemetery. The service will include a special speaker, placing of a wreath, the National Anthem and the playing of TAPS.
Berea Memorial Day Service is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Berea Lutheran Church Cemetery. The Color Guard will be in attendance. Following the service, ice cream and cake will b e served in the church basement.
The Chappell Memorial Day Service will. be held at 11 a.m.at the Chappell Cemetery. The service will be presented by the Area Veterans Group. Volunteers are needed to put out and take in flags, 8. a.m. and 5 p.m.
