Alliance firefighters contain early morning garage fire that claimed a pet's life

ALLIANCE, Neb. — Fire crews responded to a fully involved garage fire early Tuesday morning in Alliance, successfully containing the blaze with only limited damage to the adjoining home.
According to a press release from the Alliance Fire Department, the fire broke out around 5 a.m. in the 1600 block of Emerson Avenue. Firefighters arrived with an engine, aerial ladder platform, ambulance and heavy rescue truck. The sole occupant of the home was already outside when crews arrived.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames primarily to the attached garage, though the home suffered water, smoke and heat damage throughout. One pet died in the fire from smoke inhalation.
A Nebraska State Fire Marshal from Ogallala was called to the scene to assist with the investigation into the fire’s cause and origin.
City departments, including Alliance Electric, Water and Streets, along with the Alliance Police Department, public safety dispatchers, and Black Hills Energy, provided support during the emergency response.
Firefighter Ministry, based in Scottsbluff, was also contacted to assist the homeowner.
No injuries to the resident or responding personnel were reported.
