UTV driver injured, dog dies in collision
GERING -- Shortly after 9 a.m. July 18, the communications center received a report of an injury accident on Scotts Bluff County Road 25 just north of Lake Minatare Road.
Investigation revealed that a 24-year-old rural Scottsbluff man engaged in farming operations was northbound on County Road 25 driving a 4-wheeled utility vehicle, when a large dog ran into his path and collided with the vehicle.
The driver attempted to swerve to avoid the accident, but the dog hit the vehicle. The UTV rolled at least once. The driver suffered non-life threatening head and facial injuries. Regional West Ambulance transported him to the hospital.
The dog was killed in the impact.
No violations of the law contributed to this accident and no citations were issued.
The Scottsbluff Rural Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
