Beatrice's Logan Katz earns Nebraska Junior Golf Player of the Year honors

A young golfer from Beatrice has earned statewide recognition after a standout summer on the junior tour.
Twelve-year-old Logan Katz has been named Nebraska Junior Golf’s Player of the Year in the Intermediate Division for golfers aged between 12 and 13.
Katz competed against more than 60 players statewide and recorded the most wins in the tour in addition to earning the best point total score of the season, highlighted by an individual title at the Capital City Tournament. He closed the season with a victory at the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour Championship on July 25, defeating Murdock's Conner Clements in a one-hole playoff to secure the title.
Logan says his love for the sport was fostered once his family moved across the street from the Beatrice Country Club. There, Logan and his brother learned from former club pro Seth Ray, competing in summer contests and honing their game. The brothers earned enough credits over that first summer to buy their first real clubs, and Logan still credits that experience with helping him develop his short game.
Katz has competed in Nebraska Junior Golf events since he was five years old, and has also competed in national tournaments including the U.S. Kids World Championship in North Carolina. He'll be entering seventh grade at Tri County this fall.
