The race for the U.S. Senate position currently held by Republican Pete Ricketts is becoming clearer.

Ricketts and Independent Dan Osborn have both started campaigns for the position, which will be voted on in 2026. On Wednesday afternoon, a social media commenter asked Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb who her party would offer against Ricketts.

She replied saying her party is supporting Osborn and that she believes a coalition of Democrats, Independents and Republicans can defeat the incumbent Ricketts.

Osborn hasn't courted an endorsement from Democrats and says he won't caucus with a party. In fact, it was Ricketts' campaign that sent an email pointing out the social media post and labeling it as an endorsement.

Osborn lost to Republican U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer in a competitive race last November.
