KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Another trip to Arrowhead for Cam Jurgens and another win for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Beatrice native improves to 3-0 against the Chiefs as a starter and has continued to thrive as an established piece of the Eagles offensive line. Whether it’s being a leader on the field, or helping the Eagles execute the famous tush push, Cam’s teammates know the talent he possesses.

“He played some time at right guard for a year and to be able do that and then go to center, obviously had a tremendous year last year.. Man he’s tough,” offensive lineman Lane Johnson said. “Coming off a long offseason of rehab, he’s starting to hit stride and we all love Cam.”

“It’s awesome coming back here, midwest, growing up not far from here” Jurgns said. “The stadium is loud so it’s a cool experience… Had a ton of family coming down so excited to go talk to them.”

On Sunday, Jurgens was a crucial part of what the Eagles do so well - running the football. He helped open a running lane for Saquon Barkley on the Eagles first score and helped lead the way on the patented tush push.

Jurgens took over the center spot for sure-to-be hall of famer Jason Kelce. Offensive tackle Jordan Mailata says there’s been no drop off.

“He was handpicked by Kelce,” Mailata said. “You can see the similarities and see why Kelce had the influence in picking him… He’s making his own shoes, not filling in anyone’s shoes. He’s his own player and doing a fabulous job.”

And that job well done has rubbed off on new teammates as well, like running back AJ Dillon.

“He’s been awesome, he’s one of the generals out there,” Dillon said. “He conducts the orchestra… great guy, great leader and he’s a great guy to just pick his brain with me being new here.”

You can take the boy out of southeast Nebraska, but you can’t take the Southeast Nebraska out of the boy.

The Jurgens clan was out in full force, representing Beatrice, Filley, Pickerel, and many of the other towns within the region.

But what has Cam told his teammates about the area? And what are their impressions?

“There’s nothing out there,” Jordan Mailata said “He wants us to come visit him at his place, I’m like ‘come on man what’s out there’ and he just keeps saying to come out there and he’ll show us around and show me a good time so we’ll have to plan that next offseason.”

The southeast Nebraska love for Beatrice’s star goes both ways. Jurgens knows it’ll always be home.

“It means a lot and I mean a lot to them,” Jurgens said. “To see the House of Orange, Cam Jurgens Field, it’s pretty surreal. Every time I see something pop up it’s surreal to know I have a field named after me, it’s pretty cool.”
