Retailer teaming up with first responders in recognition of Hunger Action Month to support local foodbanks and pantries

CINCINNATI, Sept. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) is teaming up with first responders throughout the U.S. to honor Hunger Action Month with "Heroes Fight Hunger," a Kroger-driven food drive supporting local communities throughout September.

"Access to nutritious food is essential to our communities, and Kroger remains committed to our mission of ending hunger and expanding access to fresh, affordable food for everyone," said Keith Dailey, Kroger's group vice president of corporate affairs. "We're proud to stand alongside first responders, the everyday heroes who serve and protect our neighborhoods, in the fight against hunger. Heroes Fight Hunger is a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can make an impact for those who need it most."

Customers at select Kroger locations can participate in 'Heroes Fight Hunger' by donating non-perishable food items for area food banks and pantries, including peanut butter, pasta, canned fruit and vegetables, shelf-stable milk, rice, granola bars, and more.

Hunger Action Month is an annual nationwide month of action to spread awareness and encourage everyone to join the movement to end hunger. Since 2017, Kroger has directed more than 3.9 billion meals to nourish our communities and provided $1.8 billion in food and funds to support hunger relief in our communities. Kroger is a visionary partner of Feeding America and continues to provide year-round support through charitable giving and donating surplus fresh food.

Kroger's Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation will also host its annual Hunger Action Month campaign, directing all funds raised in Kroger Family of Stores during the month of September to the Feeding America network of food banks in our communities. Customers can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar in their neighborhood store to help neighbors struggling with hunger. During Hunger Action Month last year, the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation raised over $432,000 for Feeding America.

Feeding America is the nation's largest hunger relief organization. Through a network of more than 200 food banks, 21 statewide food bank associations and over 60,000 partner agencies, food pantries and meal programs, the Feeding America network collects food and financial donations, moves and distributes food to people who experience food insecurity.
