RUSHVILLE, Neb. — A 19-year-old man from Orange, California is facing multiple charges after authorities say he led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Sheridan County.

Jayden Ford is charged with one felony count of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, along with misdemeanor willful reckless driving and a speeding infraction.

According to court documents, on Aug. 11 around 3:40 p.m., the Sheridan County Sheriff saw a white Ford Mustang traveling an estimated 60 to 70 mph in a 25-mph zone in Rushville. When the sheriff attempted to stop the vehicle, he says the Mustang nearly caused a head-on collision before accelerating west on Highway 20, reaching speeds of an estimated 120 mph.

The pursuit continued toward Alliance, with assistance requested from the Nebraska State Patrol and the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the chase ended at Highway 87 and Gage Road in Box Butte County after Ford encountered two patrol units.

Ford appeared via Zoom for a Sept. 25 court hearing. Because he has an outstanding warrant, the court ordered him to turn himself in before his next appearance will be scheduled.
