LARAMIE COUNTY, Wyo. -- On Friday, October 10, Michael Ohern was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on 22 counts of Felony Aggravated Cruelty to Animals.

This was a joint investigation by Animal Control and LCSO detectives. Members of Animal Control, Cheyenne Compliance Department Code Enforcement, and Detectives from the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a residence in the 200 block of H Bar E Drive in unincorporated Laramie County.

During the warrant service, more than 100 animals were seized including 22 deceased. Many were found injured, sick, and severely neglected. Dogs, birds, rabbits, turtles, tortoises, goats, and chickens were taken to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.

This is an active investigation. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Early estimates suggest that the cost of care for these animals could reach $150,000.
