Garden County tops Southwest to claim first state title in school history
KEARNEY, Neb. — Garden County made history on Friday night.
The Eagles defeated Southwest 41-22 to win the D6 State Championship, winning the program's first state title.
Garden County outscored Southwest 20-0 in the final four minutes of the second quarter giving them a 27-point advantage heading into halftime.
Running back Wilsie Lobner led the Eagles rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns. The senior also picked off Southwest quarterback Houston Billeter twice. Kyan Kramer added 76 yards and a rushing score.
Billeter passed for 257 yards and three touchdowns for Southwest. Deric Kelley paced Southwest in receiving with 87 yards and a score.
