SIDNEY, Neb. - Three people were arrested early Sunday after Sidney Police and the Cheyenne County Sheriff's office executed a drug-related search warrant at a home on the city’s north side.

Officers served the warrant around 7:30 a.m. at 428 N. 14th Ave. following what Police Chief Sam Lovato described as tip-based information from the public that led investigators to suspect drug activity at the residence. Nine Sidney police officers and one Cheyenne County sheriff’s deputy participated in the operation.

Lovato said officers searched for evidence from both the first floor and the basement with two teams. Five people were initially apprehended, but two were released at the scene. Three others were taken to the Cheyenne County Jail on felony drug and weapons charges. Their names have not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

No children were found in the home, and no injuries were reported. Neighbors told News Channel Nebraska they heard shouting as officers entered the residence.

Lovato emphasized there was no danger to the surrounding neighborhood.

This is a developing story, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
