GORDON, Neb. - A Gordon woman is charged with felony child abuse after a Gordon man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenager, along with making and possessing child sexual abuse material. Cassandra Lamy, 45, appeared in Sheridan County Court on Thursday.

According to court documents, authorities came to Lamy’s house after a reported sexual assault that was allegedly committed by a 13-year-old against a 6-year-old. That investigation led to two other cases and the arrest of the male adult in the house, Joshua Liebermann.

As News Channel Nebraska has previously reported, Liebermann faces six felony counts, including Sexual Assault of a Child-1st Degree, Poss. Child Sexual Abuse Material/Minor, and Make/Direct/Create/Generate Child Sexual Abuse Material.

According to court documents, a report of sexual abuse of a minor led to a search warrant of Liebermann’s house on October 25. The victim told authorities that Liebermann started taking pictures of her that were sexual in nature when she was eight and having sex with her when she was 12. After Liebermann’s arrest, court documents state that Liebermann admitted to having sex with the victim starting when she was 14.

The arrest affidavit states that the victim reported telling Lamy about the assaults on several occasions, but her mother dismissed the claims.

Before the victim was removed from the home and in the presence of law enforcement, court documents state that the victim showed Lamy a video of Liebermann having sex with her, which she had saved on her phone. Law enforcement said that Lamy denied the video and said the woman in the video was her. The victim tried to argue, even pointing out that the bedroom was clearly her’s and not her mother’s. Court documents state that Lamy walked away, but she later changed her story, saying, “My mind was racing, they had just gotten out of an accident.”

Court documents also state that both Liebermann and Lamy said the victim was raped on the couch when she was 10 or 11 by a different person in the house while they lived in Florida, and they kicked the reported accuser out of the house but didn’t report the assault. Law enforcement also states that Lamy blamed the victim several times for the assaults, instead of Liebermann.

“Your affiant told Cassandra Lamy that from Joshua Liebermann's perspective he thought he was helping (the victim) to which Cassandra Lamy responded, ‘I believe that, and she wasn't going to get pregnant,’” the arrest affidavit states.

Court documents also state that there were multiple Florida Department of Children and Families intakes alleging sexual abuse not only of the victim, but other children as well, from 2012-2022. Florida law enforcement stated that when they followed up, the children wouldn’t say anything, and the investigation stopped.

In Nebraska, there were also four reports made to the Department of Health and Human Services from 2023 to 2024 about Liebermann raping the victim.
