SIDNEY -- On January 17, a Cheyenne County deputy contacted Nicholas Nowak, 43, on U.S. Highway 30 in a traffic stop.

The deputy reported seeing a marijuana dispensary container in the driver’s left coat pocket. The driver, Nicholas Nowak, was asked to surrender the container, which he did willingly. According to the sheriff’s department, the container held a green leafy substance, and had THC printed on it. Nowak was asked to exit the vehicle and the vehicle was searched.

Deputies found a self-seal baggie containing white crystal  substances and drug paraphernalia. The white substance was field-tested showing positive for Methamphetamine.

Nowak was arrested and booked into Cheyenne County Jail. He is being held on the charge of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 4 Felony.

Bond of $5,000 or 10 percent ($500) was paid January 21.

He is scheduled for arraignment at 10 a.m., February 9, in Cheyenne County Court.
