Kids Oasis program to transition to Goodall YMCA partnership

OGALLALA, Neb. — Ogallala Public Schools announced that the Goodall YMCA will take over operation of the Kids Oasis program beginning in August 2026, marking a new partnership aimed at continuing after-school and summer programming for local students.
As part of the transition, the after-school Kids Oasis program will relocate to Prairie View Elementary School. The program has previously been held at the Ogallala Armory. School officials said program hours will remain the same as in previous years.
Summer programming will also continue at Prairie View Elementary. Breakfast and lunch will still be served during the summer months, and the Summer Kids Oasis program will remain available, though it will no longer be housed at the Armory.
Ogallala Public Schools said additional details, including drop-off and pick-up procedures, will be shared with families as the transition approaches.
In response to questions from the community regarding the future use of the Ogallala Armory, district officials confirmed the building will be converted into a new early childhood education center. The district said the project will allow Ogallala Public Schools to expand services for younger students.
Officials described the partnership with the Goodall YMCA as a positive step for students and families and said updates will continue as plans are finalized.
