RUSHVILLE, Neb. — A Pine Ridge man has been extradited to South Dakota after being sentenced in Nebraska for failing to register as a sex offender while working in Gordon.

36-year-old Faron Apple was sentenced to 30 days in jail after failing to report a change in employment when he began working at Open Range Beef. Authorities learned of the violation on Aug. 19.

The following day, Apple scheduled an appointment to update his sex offender registry information, but court documents say he failed to appear and left his job at the Gordon facility.

Apple was originally convicted in 2004 of aggravated sexual abuse for having sex with a 13-year-old girl when he was 15 years old. He also has additional convictions, including assaults on federal officers in 2021 and 2024.

In addition to the Nebraska case, Apple was wanted in Bennett County, South Dakota, on a warrant related to an offense punishable by more than one year in prison. According to an arrest warrant issued in April 2021, Apple failed to comply with his sentence for aggravated eluding.
