SIDNEY -- The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners will hold a budget hearing Monday, September 22.

The budget hearing is scheduled for 8:05 a.m. with the Commissioners meeting as the Board of Equalization afterward to set the 2025-2026 mill levy.

Jeff Jung, of Rauner & Associates, met with the commissioners in the September 15 meeting.

"The total of the Operating Budget is down a couple million dollars, or about 9 percent. The impact to the Tax Ask is always the General Budget and the Road Budget together, right? The General Budget is up a little bit. There's a couple key items that were moved into General that weren't there before. The ambulance, there's a big IT contract, that and an increase in the sheriff's budget for a new deputy are probably the biggest three things pushing the General Budget," Jung said.

He said health insurance is one of the biggest costs for 2025-2026.

"The Tax Ask that we agreed upon is just a little over $200,000. That's just a little over 3 percent," Jung said.
