YUMA, Colo. --( Sept. 12 , 2025) -- A multi-agency operation resulted in the apprehension of a suspect wanted in connection with an assault in Sterling, Colo.

The arrest occurred September 12 in Yuma after the Yuma Police Department was contacted by Sterling Detectives.

At about 4:25 p.m., the Yuma Police Department was notified that the individual, John Byrd, was possibly located in the 600 block of South Columbus Street in Yuma.

Officers from the Yuma Police Department, Yuma County Sheriff's Office, and the Sterling Police Department quickly coordinated their actions and safely took the suspect into custody.

Byrd was apprehended without incident and has been turned over to the Sterling Police Department. A second individual was also taken into custody at the scene.
