Leyton dominates Pawnee City 63-14 to advance in D6 Playoffs

DALTON, Neb. - Leyton continued their strong season with a commanding 63-14 win over Pawnee City in the first round of the 2025 NSAA Class D6 State Football Playoffs on Friday afternoon in Dalton.
Leyton (8-1), the No. 5 seed in the Class D6 bracket, scored touchdowns on all 10 of its possessions and racked up 526 total yards - 230 on the ground and 296 through the air. Pawnee City finished with 201 total yards and was held scoreless in the second half.
The Warriors were led by senior Alec Watchorn, who accounted for six touchdowns. He ran eight times for 187 yards and three scores, caught five passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns, and threw a 74-yard touchdown pass. Colt Van Anne added 128 rushing yards and three touchdowns on five carries, while also catching five passes for 55 yards and tossing an 11-yard touchdown to Watchorn. Quarterback Austin Buetler threw for 206 yards and a touchdown, and Kaleb Miller hauled in a 56-yard score.
Pawnee City (5-4) was led by Atreyu Kling, who rushed 20 times for 54 yards and a touchdown and threw for 35 yards. Dawson Wilkinson added 70 passing yards and a touchdown to Tyler Tegtmeier, who finished with four receptions for 29 yards.
Leyton's defense forced three turnover on downs on four second half possessions for the Indians.
With the win, Leyton advances to face No. 4 seed Stuart (8-1) in the Class D6 quarterfinals next Friday. The Broncos defeated Meridian 47-7 in their opening-round matchup. Game time is to be announced.
Pawnee City, missing sophomore Payton Rose - who rushed for nearly a thousand yards this season, finishes the season at 5-4.
