University of Nebraska-Kearney's “One Day for UNK” event breaks records, raises nearly $390,000

KEARNEY, Neb. — The University of Nebraska at Kearney’s fifth annual “One Day for UNK” fundraiser exceeded expectations, raising nearly $390,000 and recording 2,170 gifts during the 24-hour online giving event.
Connie White, Director of Public Relations for the University of Nebraska Foundation, called the results “exciting” and praised Lopers for coming together to support the university.
“This is our fifth year, so to see these results is just really gratifying,” said White. “We’re so grateful to everybody who made a gift."
Donations support scholarships, hands-on learning experiences, student organizations, the Loper Food Pantry and emergency student assistance for those facing unexpected financial hardships.
Organizers said generous challenge and matching gifts, totaling more than $240,000, played a major role in surpassing last year’s totals.
Officials say the funds will expand opportunities for students across campus, from internships and experiential learning to programs in health care, the arts and athletics.
“This is a credit to every single person who shared on social media, made a gift, or wore a t-shirt,” said White. “Private support and events like this really enhance opportunities for students, and it’s gratifying to see the community come together.”
The results mark a new milestone for One Day for UNK, which had previously raised nearly $300,000 with more than 2,000 gifts in 2024.
