Love: Differences between Ricketts and Trump 'getting narrow'
Love: “I don't ever understand what he's trying to say."
Democrat Senate hopeful Preston Love says it’s getting harder to find differences between Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts and former President Donald Trump.
Love making that comment just moments before launching a listening tour of western Nebraska, which Trump dominated in the 2020 election.

Sen. Pete Ricketts (R): “Last year the Biden administration…”
He’s called his bid to unseat incumbent Senator, former 2-term Governor, Pete Ricketts a long shot.
When he kicked off his campaign Democrat Preston Love compared his fight to David taking on Goliath and insisting it's about more than Ricketts.
Preston Love, Senate Candidate (D): “Not only Trump but his supporters, not only Trump but his enablers.”
Today, Love is heading west crisscrossing the state, a so-called listening tour taking in some 12 cities maybe more, all in deep Republican-red Nebraska.
Love: “We're going to come back with our heads full of good knowledge about what greater Nebraska really wants for out of their leaders.”
Leaving just hours after Trump told a room full of conservative black voters that his indictments and more have blacks on his side.
Former President Donald Trump: "We’ve all seen the mug shot, and you know who embraced it more than anybody else? The Black population. It’s incredible. You see Black people walking around with my mug shot, you know they do shirts and they sell them for nineteen dollars apiece. It's pretty amazing."
Joe Jordan, NCN: “Former President Trump said black voters like him because he's been indicted 4 times, they appreciate his mug shot. Do you understand what he's trying to say?”
Love: “I don't ever understand what he's trying to say. Mr. Trump likes to talk. It doesn't make sense most of the time, it's not based on fact and most of the time it's nonsense, so I never try to make sense of his nonsense."
Jordan: “Would you classify it as racist?”
Love: “I don't even concentrate on that. I'm finding Joe that in greater Nebraska there's a pushback on both who I may be running against in the general (election) and absolutely Trump. Unfortunately, I think my opponent in November is migrating toward Trump, so we’ll surely be trying to understand what’s the difference between Mr. Ricketts and Mr. Trump, right now it’s getting narrow.”
Despite his admittedly underdog status, Love says he does have a “path to victory” one he’ll learn more about over the next thousand miles or so.
