In-Sidney students will need a bus pass

SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District administration today announced changes to the District's bussing program.

The changes are a result of financial challenges that Sidney Public Schools are facing due to the revised school funding system in Nebraska.

In response to the loss of state funding, the Sidney School District administration and school board previously invited the community to engage in discussions and collaborate on finding solutions.

After gathering feedback from the community, the board and administration developed a plan to assist school district families. The District will be implementing a fee-based "Bus Pass" system. To ride the bus, all students will be required to have a bus pass in hand. Students living more than four miles from school will receive free bus passes, while in-town students can purchase a bus pass for the school year based on a sliding fee schedule.

Official routes for the 24/25 school year will be posted on our website in early August before the school year starts. In-town bus stops will consist of the following:

  • North Elementary (1620 Dodge St)
  • Sidney Middle School (1100 19th Ave)
  • Central Elementary (1114 16th Ave)
  • South Elementary (Toledo St & 12th Ave)
  • Cheyenne County Community Center (627 Toledo St)
  • West Elementary (2350 Osage St)
