VALENTINE, Neb. - Electricity has been restored after a lightning strike caused a substation failure north of Valentine.

According to Cherry-Todd Electric Cooperative, the outage impacted more than 200 consumers.

The Cooperative said that the lightning and wind did cause several other sporadic outages as well.

“We’ve had a quite a change from mild spring weather to thunderstorm season," Cherry-Todd Electric Cooperative CEO Timothy Grablander said.

In addition to the power outage, News Channel Nebraska reported on four fires that were caused by lighting Monday night.
