ELKHORN, Neb. - If you would like to help those cleaning up from the tornadoes, here are a few options.

Omaha Rapid Response is sending teams to an Elkhorn neighborhood each day for the next week, starting at 7:30 a.m. and going until 5 p.m. They meet at The Relevant Center and volunteers need to be at least 12 years old.

Items, such as pillows, laundry detergent, and packing tape can be donated by dropping them off at Relevant. Other needed items include: totes, boxes, first aid supplies, medicine such as Ibuprofen and Tylenol, razors, shaving cream, tape gun, scissors, sharpies, Ziplock bags, tarps, Clorox wipes, flashlights, and ponchos.

Any furniture and household items to donate can be taken to The Furniture Project at 10808 J St.

K Posh Boutique in Elkhorn is also gathering women’s clothing to give to tornado victims.

In the Blair area, the Salvation Army has opened a Disaster Assistance Center at its Lake Arrowhead office, south of Blair. People who want to volunteer can stop by the office, along with those who need help. The center will be staffed Monday and Tuesday at the Lakeland community building in Blair. You can call 402-898-6000 for more information on how to volunteer.

A financial donation can be made for those that are unable to travel. Click on this link, and make sure to select Elkhorn Tornado Relief from the “Fund” dropdown menu.

Purchasing the “Nebraska Together” apparel at Huskers.com is another way to help. Nebraska Athletics will donate royalties and all proceeds to the Red Cross to help local relief efforts.

Nebraska Humane Society is also asking for pet food and kitty litter, which can be dropped off at 8929 Fort St. in Omaha.
