VALENTINE, Neb. - The Independent candidate running for U.S. Senate in Nebraska is spending his weekend campaigning in the north-central part of the state. Dan Osborn was in Valentine on Friday—the hometown of his competitor, current Republican Senator Deb Fischer.

“People are frustrated with Deb Fischer. She went into the U.S. Senate with a net worth of $300,00. She’s now worth $4 million. Nobody can name one thing that she’s done for them, especially in her own hometown,” Osborn said. “In the primary, Cherry County was one of the worst turnouts for her.”

Valentine is the county seat of Cherry County, where Fischer had one of the lowest turnouts in this week’s primary. Less than 69 percent of Republicans in the county voted for Fischer. The only lower number--neighboring Sheridan County with around 68 percent. Statewide Fischer captured nearly 80% of the Republican vote.

“Typically inflation and the economy is top on people’s list. There are 55 multi-national monopolistic corporations that funnel their money overseas, park it there, and don’t pay any taxes. That’s something I would like to tackle,” Osborn said.

Osborn made headlines earlier this week when he announced that he will not accept endorsements from any political party or politician. There is no Democrat in the race.

“People are frustrated ultimately with the two party system, and nothing getting done in government,” Osborn said.
