GORDON, Neb. - Work will start next week on several road projects in Gordon.

The locations for the construction will be Spruce St., from Third to Fourth, the intersection of Elm and Second, and First St. from Oak to Cornell.

“To see the project being launched this year is a great win for the city of Gordon,” City Manager Glen Spaugh said. "The engineering portion took much longer than anticipated and we thought that it might be delayed another year, so we are thankful that there was interest in the project."

All locations will include storm sewer improvements, with additional water improvements at Elm and Second St.

Spaugh said that proper drainage has been an ongoing issue for many years at Elm and Second, and First St. from Oak to Cornell also experiences wear and tear from heavier truck traffic.

Crews will start work on May 28, with a hopeful completion date of Oct. 7, 2024. However, the city has allowed for two construction seasons in case the work isn’t finished.
