Winner, S.D. - Strong winds swept through Winner, South Dakota Monday night, causing extensive damage throughout the town. Tripp County Emergency Manager Jon Burdette said that several businesses, including the local drive-in theater and the greenhouse, suffered significant damage. Additionally, many trees are uprooted, and power lines are down.

The City of Winner is urging people to stay away from downed power lines, report any issues, and avoid moving the lines themselves.

“Thankfully I haven’t heard of any injuries. We’ll get through this. Everything can be replaced,” Burdette said.

The Winner Warriors High School football team cut its camp short to help with cleanup. Football players began removing debris early Tuesday morning.

“That’s the best thing about these small towns - everybody comes together,” Burdette said.
