Two sentenced in death of 17-year-old on Pine Ridge Reservation
ROCKYFORD, S.D. - Two people have been sentenced for their roles in a deadly shooting near Rockyford, South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Tyson White Plume, 29, of Manderson received a 15-year federal prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release, for voluntary manslaughter.
Sarah Stone, 44, was sentenced to time served, plus one year of supervised release, for misprision of a felony.
The convictions arose out of the shooting death of White Plume’s seventeen-year-old girlfriend, Shayna Youngman, on Feb. 5, 2022. White Plume admitted pointing a pistol at Youngman and pulling the trigger, after removing the magazine but failing to ensure the firearm did not have a bullet in the chamber.
The shooting took place at Stone’s house. When she found out the teen had been killed, she concealed and lied about her knowledge of the shooting to law enforcement.
Plume and Stone had faced more severe charges, including second degree murder and accessory after the fact to second degree murder. However, they pled guilty to the lesser charges on May 3, 2024.
