Mile-long fire overnight near Parmelee
Several fire departments worked overnight to contain a mile-long fire north of Parmelee, South Dakota, according to Rosebud Sioux Tribe Volunteer Fire Department.

PARMELEE, S.D. - Several fire departments worked overnight to contain a mile-long fire north of Parmelee, South Dakota, according to Rosebud Sioux Tribe Volunteer Fire Department. Chief Provencial requested mutual aid from Cody-Kilgore firefighters to help battle the fire.
Rosebud authorities said the fire was contained to two acres, with crews working on mop-up efforts Friday morning.
Several fires are burning in the area, including one near White River that is now 13 miles in length and spans 8,000 to 10,000 acres, according to Rosebud Sioux Tribe Volunteer Fire Department.
