PINE RIDGE, S.D. - What appears to be an innocent pack of chewing gum is, in fact, something far more dangerous. A recent post by the OST DPS Highway Safety on Facebook shows narcotics disguised to look like Hubba Bubba gum, seized by law enforcement on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Several people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

“Unfortunately, this dangerous narcotic continues to plague our homelands. PLEASE! Continue to do your part in reporting and submitting tips to help combat the flow of illegal drugs on our Oglala Lakota Nation Homeland,” OST DPS Highway Safety wrote.

According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, the United States is currently facing its deadliest drug epidemic in history.
