WINNER, S.D. – Students at Winner Middle and High School were dismissed early on Wednesday following a lockdown in response to a threat. According to a social media post from the district, the lockdown was prompted by a threat received by several students.

During the lockdown, the district also increased police presence at the school.

Some parents expressed concerns on social media, questioning why the district communicated the situation via Facebook rather than using a mass text message to notify parents directly.
