NU Notes: Jacory Barney Jr. Earns Big Ten Honor
Nebraska freshman wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. was named Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week Monday for his performance in Nebraska’s 44-25 win over Wisconsin.
Barney had nine catches for 85 yards in the win over the Badgers, establishing career bests in both catches and yardage. He also had a career-high 45 yard kickoff return and had an 11-yard rush, as he totaled 150 all-purpose yards to help Nebraska clinch a bowl berth.
It marked the fourth time this season with five or more catches, including his third in Big Ten action. Barney also broke NU’s single-season record for catches by a true freshman with 49, breaking the mark of 40 set by Wan’Dale Robinson in 2019. Barney’s 49 catches rank second overall among all freshmen in school history, trailing only JD Spielman who had 55 receptions as a redshirt freshman in 2017.
On the season, Barney has a team-high 49 catches for 402 yards, as well as 10 rushes for 130 yards and three scores. The Florida City, Fla., native also has 11 kickoff returns for 232 yards. Barney is the second Husker freshman to win the conference freshman honor this year, joining Dylan Raiola against UTEP.
The Huskers close the regular season at Iowa this Friday, Nov. 29. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be televised on NBC and carried on the Huskers Radio Network, the Huskers app and Huskers.com.

Nebraska sophomore Bergen Reilly was named Big Ten Co-Setter of the Week on Monday for the second week in a row.
Reilly, who collected her fifth weekly honor of the season and the ninth of her career, averaged 12.83 assists per set while leading the Huskers to a combined hitting percentage of .355 on the week.
In Nebraska's 3-0 win at Iowa last Wednesday, Reilly had 41 assists, eight digs, three kills, three blocks and two aces, as the Huskers hit .472, their best hitting percentage in a Big Ten match since 2017.
Reilly followed up on Saturday with 36 assists, three digs, two kills and a block in a sweep of No. 6 Wisconsin in which the Big Red hit .259.
Reilly is the first Husker to earn five Big Ten Setter of the Week awards in one season since NU joined the conference in 2011.
