SIDNEY, Neb. — Sidney senior Patrick McCartney earned his 100th career win, and secured a first place finish at 190 pounds, at the Sidney/Bridgeport Wrestling Invite Saturday at Sidney High School. McCartney won his bracket in just 22 seconds in the title match.

The meet showcased talent from across the region with over 20 teams and hundreds of athletes competing. 

Sidney's Saphira Whitley (G-170), Zech Roggasch (175), Causon Boltjes (215) and Leeann Mulleavey (G-235) also won individual golds for the Raiders. 

Whitley captured gold bypinning Bridgeport's Jayden Mueller in just 40 seconds in the championship match. Boltjes defeated Mullen’s Tate Kvanvig by decision, 13-7. Mulleavey swept through her class, ending her day with a 3:02 pin against Scottsbluff's Victoria Burns. 

In other results, Avalina Stoner, of Mitchell, won the G-100 bracket, winning all her matches by fall, including a decisive 2:52 victory over Gering freshman Rileigh Dane in the final. Cecilia Barron-Berrelleza, of Morrill, earned gold in the G-105 division, pinning teammate Milya Thomas late in the title match. Gering's Meredith Zlomke (20-5) continued her stellar season with a first-place finish in the G-135 bracket, pinning Bridgeport's Paige Dalimata in 1:45. 

Bridgeport’s champions included Cammie Rader (18-1), who earned the G-140 title with a 45-second pin over Burns/Pine Bluffs’ Lauren Checheck, and Hayden Marks (18-1), who secured gold in the G-190 bracket, pinning Scottsbluff’s Jazmyn Garcia in 3:59.

For the boys, Mitchell’s Yovanni Jimenez (15-1) clinched the 106-pound title, pinning Hemingford’s Ryan Ragsdale in 1:24.

In the team standings, Bridgeport girls edged Gering for the title, finishing with 159 points. The Gering boys narrowly topped Alliance, 166.5 - 161, to secure the championship.

The Sidney girls finished fourth and the boys finished third.
