WINNER, S.D. - Expectant mothers in Winner and nearby communities will soon need to look elsewhere to give birth. Winner Regional Health announced on Facebook that it will stop offering labor and delivery services starting Feb. 1, 2025.

“The decision comes after ongoing challenges in recruiting physicians and difficulties with reimbursement,” the healthcare facility explained in its post.

While the clinic will continue to provide prenatal and postnatal care, the delivery of babies will no longer be part of its services. This change means expectant mothers in Winner and surrounding areas will have to travel farther for labor and delivery, as many nearby towns have also discontinued these services.
