GAGE COUNTY - The annual Cattlemen's Ball fundraiser will officially be held in Blue Springs this June 6-7, marking a return to Southeast Nebraska for an event that cycles through the state of Nebraska every year.

Local livestock producers Beverly and Terry Acton were announced as the primary hosts of the event last summer. This will be the event's first appearance in this region of the state since 2018, when Hebron was the host site; previously, McCool Junction and Milford have served as host sites in Southeast Nebraska.

The following is a press release issued by the organization this week; it has been reprinted in full. For further information about this year's event, contact Shelby Watson by email or phone [(402) 223-7260].

The 2025 Cattlemen's Ball will be held near Blue Springs, NE on June 6-7. This specific event has been going on since 1998, and has a legacy of more than twenty-five years of compassionate, giving people working to make communities all across Nebraska healthier and cancer-free. More than $21 million has been raised through the Ball and its’ events and activities.

The Cattlemen’s Ball is a fund-raising event primarily designated for cancer research. Ninety percent of all proceeds from The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska will be given to the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center across Nebraska, which is a National Cancer Institute designated facility that provides cutting-edge research and outstanding patient care right here in Nebraska. The remaining ten percent of proceeds are graciously returned to local communities for support of local health and wellness initiatives.

The event is not just for cowboys or cattle producers. It is open to anyone with a paid ticket. A Top Hand Ticket is open to the ball on Saturday afternoon until the event ends. A Trail Boss Ticket is for the entire event, beginning Friday and ending Saturday night, and includes a more VIP-like experience with priority seating included. Only Diamond level and above sponsors will have reserved tables at the event; however, since Trail Boss ticket holders have access on Friday night, they can reserve a table on their own when they get to The Ball. To purchase tickets, individuals can go online to www.cattlemensball.com/tickets or tickets can also be purchased in person by visiting First State Bank Nebraska at 560 Sargent Street, Beatrice, NE 68310.

This event exemplifies “The Good Life” here in Nebraska, but a truly good life is a healthy one, and one free from the threat of cancer. The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska is powered by the energy and dedication of volunteers with the “we’re all in this together” mentality. There is a long list of committees, each filling a unique and critical role in the success of The Ball and ensuring an outstanding experience for all attendees. The Cattlemen’s Ball is an extraordinary opportunity for the community to come together in support of those working tirelessly to develop a cure for cancer and keep our communities healthy and strong.
