Two Canadians arrested for allegedly possessing 110 pounds of suspected meth near North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - Two Canadians are facing charges after the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) says troopers found 110 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, suspected drug money, and four counterfeit $100 bills in their vehicle. According to NSP, a trooper pulled over a Kia Forte around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on eastbound I-80 near North Platte. During the stop, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. NSP says a search of the car revealed several large packages of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside suitcases in the trunk.
The driver, Yafet Kidane Berhe, 27, and passenger, Douglas Cameron, 33, both from Toronto, Canada, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of money for a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana – less than one ounce. Both men were booked into the Lincoln County Jail.
