False robbery report, assault in Valentine Police report

Valentine police responded to 43 calls for service and made five arrests during the week of Feb. 2 to Feb. 8, according to the department's weekly report.

VALENTINE, Neb. - Valentine police responded to 43 calls for service and made five arrests during the week of Feb. 2 to Feb. 8, according to the department's weekly report.

Arrests:

On Feb. 3 at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance on South Helen Street, where a 30-year-old Nebraska woman was arrested on charges of assault and trespassing.

On Feb. 4 at 12:27 a.m., officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Valentine. A 28-year-old Nebraska man was arrested and charged with strangulation and assault.

On Feb. 4 at 3:14 p.m., police were called to a reported robbery at a gas station in Valentine. The investigation determined no robbery had occurred, and a 44-year-old South Dakota man was arrested and charged with false reporting.

On Feb. 5 at 2:07 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at Little’s Trailer Park, where two South Dakota women (ages 41 and 24) were arrested for assault.

During the week, officers also reported:

10 traffic stops
6 welfare checks
3 domestic disturbances
2 animal complaints
2 reports of suspicious persons or vehicles
