VALENTINE, Neb. - A Valentine freshman is headed to the NSAA State Girls Wrestling Championship. Reegan Eggert finished fourth at District Wrestling at 100 pounds, punching her ticket to State.

“I’m really excited to be gaining experience against the best of the best at State and being able to reconnect with the friends I’ve made throughout the season. For some of us, the only time we get to see each other is at a tournament and meets, so getting to catch up at State is something I’m looking forward too, plus getting to miss a few days of school isn’t so bad either,” said Eggert.

Eggert had 23 wins this season, including 18 pins. She also has had 37 takedowns, eight reversals, four two-point near falls and six four-point near falls.

Other area wrestlers headed to State include Jenifer Banister, Lainey Filmore and Kirsten Heck of Gordon-Rushville, Emily Chavez of Sandhills/Thedford, and Bristol Prado and Vivian Golembiewski of Chadron.

The NSAA State Girls Wrestling Championship will be Feb. 18 and 19 at CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha.
