District wrestling roundup: Alliance takes runner-up at B4 Tournament; Sidney sending three wrestlers to state

WAVERLY, Neb. — The road to Omaha got clearer for Alliance and Sidney wrestlers at the NSAA Class B4 District Wrestling Tournament at Waverly High School on Saturday.
Alliance finished as the district runner-up with 132.5 team points, trailing only Waverly (232.5), while Sidney placed ninth with 73.5 points.
Alliance freshman Wyatt Stabnow (106 pounds) pinned Waverly’s Jett Kearney in 2:58 to claim the district title. Sidney freshman Cayson Boltjes (215) also delivered a championship performance, securing gold with a first-period pin (1:07) over Auburn’s Logan Rowell.
Other notable state qualifiers for Alliance included freshman Coy Childers (113), who took third with a pin over Northwest’s Aden Ternus in 1:48. Freshman Jett Childers (120) finished fourth after falling in the consolation final to Talon Belding of Beatrice, and sophomore Trini Trejo (126) claimed third with an 11-5 decision over Trindyn Degodt (Hastings).
Junior Andrew Benzel (132) placed fourth after a fall to Ryan Hayes (Auburn) in 2:06, sophomore Hunter Bridges (138) took third in a 13-10 decision over Jake Nelson (Lincoln Pius X), and senior Jackson Bailey (144) reached the finals but was stopped by Waverly’s Brayden Canoyer via technical fall (21-6), securing a runner-up finish.
Sidney’s Zech Roggasch (165) earned a district runner-up finish, battling Hastings’ Logan Clark before falling in a 9-3 decision. Red Raider senior Patrick McCartney (190) also placed second after a 8-2 loss to Lincoln Pius X’s Joe Andreasen.
Arensdorf, Brinkman lead area wrestlers at D4 District Tournament
SUTHERLAND, Neb. — Wrestlers from Banner County, Garden County, Bayard, Kimball and South Platte punched their tickets to the state tournament at the NSAA Class D4 District Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Sutherland. From
South Platte freshman Drake Arensdorf (138) delivered a dominant performance by pinning Kimball's Cameron McGinnis in just 40 seconds to claim the district title. Kimball also celebrated gold at 150 pounds with senior Cody Brinkman winning in a 15-6 major decision over Dylan Kollmorgen of Hitchcock County.
Banner County freshman Wilbur Reichenberg (106) was pinned in 45 seconds by Hemingford’s Ryan Ragsdale, securing a runner-up finish. Kimball junior Mason Holmes (106) placed third with a pin over Bayard freshman Henry Dueker at 4:09.
Garden County sophomore Jase Roberson (157) clinched a district title with a pin over Jason Kraus (Mullen) at the four-minute mark. At 126 pounds, sophomore Cable Larsen reached the finals but was stopped by Morrill's Drey Gardner via fall in 4:30, finishing second.
Bayard junior Coy Armstrong (138) placed third, pinning Cole Block of Hitchcock County in just 52 seconds. At 120 pounds, Garden County junior Luke Gardner finished fourth after falling to Logan Robirds of North Platte St. Patrick’s in a 10-1 major decision.
North Platte St. Patrick's claimed the team title with 150.5 points, while Sutherland (121.0) and Hitchcock County (120.5) rounded out the top three.
The Nebraska School Activities Association State Wrestling Championships will be held Feb. 20-22 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
