BRIDGEPORT – The top-seeded Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs had four players in double figures in a blowout semifinal win over the Hershey Panthers at the C1-10 Sub-District Thursday in Bridgeport. The Panthers, who kept the game close in the first quarter, were outscored 20-6 in the second period as the Bulldogs took control on the way to a 75-33 win and advance to Saturdays Sub-District championship game.

Hershey led only one time during the game. With Bridgeport leading 12-8 in the first quarter, junior Ryleigh Melvin hit a three followed by a junior Kamryn Butterfield’s field goal in the paint gave the Panthers a 13-12 advantage. But the Hershey lead was short-lived as Bridgeport sophomore Elizabeth Velasquez answered with a three-pointer to send the Bulldogs into the second quarter with a 15-13 lead. From there, Bridgeport outscored Hershey by double figures in every period until eventually initiating the 40-point running clock late in the fourth period.

Bridgeport was paced by Ella Schluterbusch’s 17 points. Elizabeth Velasquez added 16 points, Tacey From 15 points, and Olivia Brown 14 points. Sophomore Payton Jones led the Panthers with 11 points.

Top-seeded Bridgeport (23-1) advances to the C1-10 Sub0District championship game against second-seeded Ogallala (16-8) Saturday at Bridgeport High School. It will be the third meeting between the two teams, with each team winning one of the prior encounters.
