OMAHA, Neb. — Alliance’s Coy Childers and Chadron’s Quinn Bailey delivered championship performances, while wrestlers from across western Nebraska battled their way to the podium, on the final day of the 2025 Nebraska School Activities Association State Wrestling Championships Saturday at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.

Trailing 3-1 in the third period, Childers claimed the Class B 113-pound state title with a fall at 5:44 over Waverly’s Dominic Olson in the championship match. The Bulldog standout finished the season 50-2, securing his first state championship.

Bailey put on a technical clinic throughout the tournament, winning each of his matches by technical fall, including a 23-4 win in the championship match over Conestoga’s James Kansteiner. It was Bailey's third-straight state championship.

Patrick McCartney (190 pounds) and Cayson Boltjes (215 pounds) each finished as state runners-up for Sidney. McCartney’s fell 6-3 to Lincoln Pius X’s Joe Andreasen in the title match. Boltjes, after winning his first three matches, ran into Omaha Skutt Catholic’s Cade Ziola in the finals, dropping the match by technical fall. Zech Roggasch (165 pounds) added to Sidney’s medal count, finishing sixth.

Morrill’s Drey Gardner (126 pounds) put together an impressive tournament run in Class D, finishing as a state runner-up. Gardner pinned his way through the first two rounds before shutting out Hudson Urkoski of High Plains Community 13-0 in the semifinals. In the championship match, he faced off against undefeated Uriel Guzman of Palmer, falling 7-0 to claim second place.

Scottsbluff’s Anthony Shifflett (106 pounds) took third place with a pin over Nebraska City’s Noah Boyer in the medal round. His teammate, Oscar Brown (113 pounds), finished fourth after a 7-4 loss to Omaha Skutt Catholic’s Gavin Ourada in the third-place match. Heavyweight Daylon Adams (285 pounds) bounced back to claim fifth place, pinning Blair’s Cornez Tucker Jr. in his final match.

Gering's Rece Knight’s fourth-place finish at 175 pounds led the Bulldogs. Frost Wallace (113 pounds) finished fifth and Isaiah Murillo (144 pounds) placed sixth.

Chase County’s Luis Co (144 pounds) battled back to finish third, rebounding from a semifinal loss with back-to-back wins in the consolation rounds, including a 4-1 decision over Boone Central’s Daron Dozler in the third-place match. Westyn Mendenhall (157 pounds) also earned a spot on the podium, finishing fifth after pinning Bryan Isom of Tri County Northeast in the final round.

Alliance’s Wyatt Stabnow (106 pounds) capped off his tournament with a sixth-place finish. South Platte’s Drake Arensdorf (138 pounds) also reached the podium, securing sixth place.
