Jackknifed semi-tractor-trailer blocks I-80 near Sidney amid winter storm

SIDNEY, Neb. — A jackknifed semi-truck blocked traffic on westbound Interstate 80 early Wednesday morning, bringing vehicles to a standstill as winter weather created hazardous driving conditions.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation reported the crash at 2:43 a.m. near mile marker 64 to 61, about two miles east of Sidney. The roadway was partially covered in snow, ice and slush, with blowing snow reducing visibility.
A Winter Weather Advisory remained in effect at the time, with two to four inches of snow expected and wind gusts up to 55 mph. Officials urged no travel overnight due to slick roads and low visibility.
The crash was cleared at 3:20 a.m. There was no immediate word on injuries or how long traffic was delayed.
