BEATRICE – A hit and run collision in blizzard-like conditions Wednesday has Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies investigating.

Authorities say at around 1:08 p.m., 19-year-old Teri Burns, of Essex, Iowa had parked her 2014 Chevrolet Malibu on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 77, about three miles south of Cortland, during blizzard conditions.

While parked there, an unknown semi-truck was northbound on the highway and struck the left rear of the car….causing major damage and pushing the vehicle well off the highway into the ditch.  The driver of the truck did not stop.

Burns was treated for minor injuries at Beatrice Community Hospital.  A passenger sitting in the vehicle did not go to the hospital for treatment.

Sheriff’s officials are investigating…and anyone with information about the truck that may help out, is asked to call 402-223-5222.
