Missing Sidney child found safe after community search effort

SIDNEY, Neb. — An 11-year-old boy reported missing in Sidney Saturday night was found safe, according to the Sidney Police Department.
Emiliano Vigil was last seen around 7:43 p.m. near 10th and 6th Avenue, with a possible sighting later at 13th and Newton around 9:46 p.m. He was described as wearing glasses, no shirt, black Under Armour shorts, grey Adidas socks and no shoes.
Police launched an immediate search and asked for the public’s help locating the child. Community members responded quickly, joining law enforcement in the effort. Some residents searched by foot, others by vehicle.
“Sometimes we take our small town for granted,” Sidney resident Diadra Eddy posted. “In the middle of the night tonight, I watched so many people come together to help search for a missing kiddo. Faith in humanity has been restored. It takes a village.”
The department confirmed later that Emiliano was located safe and sound, thanking everyone who helped share the alert and assisted in the search.
“Good job to the officers and the people on foot (and car) searching,” Eddy said.
Authorities did not release details on where the child was found but expressed gratitude to the community for coming together during a critical time.
