SIDNEY, Neb. – Sidney High School graduate Austin Glanz has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association to support his pursuit of a broadcasting career.

Glanz, a student at Chadron State College, is majoring in media production in communications. He was one of three students across the state selected by NBA member stations for their scholarship program, which supports aspiring broadcasters planning to work in radio or television.

Glanz is exploring career paths including radio host, sports commentator and voice actor, with plans to graduate in May 2027.

Jacie Ambrose and Jacqueline Ruiz-Rodriguez were also selected from a pool of applicants for their talent, ambition and commitment to the broadcasting industry. Both are also on track to graduate in May 2027.

Ambrose is currently attending Northeast Community College and plans to transfer to the University of Nebraska–Omaha to study journalism and media communication. She hopes to build a career as an on-air radio personality.

Ruiz-Rodriguez is a dual major in broadcasting and journalism at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She aspires to become a radio or television news reporter or anchor.

Jessie Johnson, chair of the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation and vice president of News Channel Nebraska Tri-Cities, praised this year’s recipients.

“These hard-working students represent a broad range of experience, skills and talent that will serve our industry and audiences well in the near future,” Johnson said. “The new perspectives and innovations of these students will be welcome.”

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association scholarship program is funded and promoted by participating member stations, who also review and score applications. Scholarships are awarded to the top three scoring applicants. Since 1977, the NBA and its foundation have awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to students enrolled in broadcasting and journalism programs at Nebraska colleges and universities.
