NORFOLK, Neb. — A coach with more than a decade of experience will be the next to lead the Norfolk volleyball program.

The school district announced Teresa Watters as the new head coach on Wednesday. Watters replaces Dave Hepner, who has been coach since 2021 and is retiring at the end of the school year.

"I am excited for this next chapter of coaching this talented Panther team. I am grateful for this opportunity to share my love of the game and knowledge and look forward to this volleyball season,” Watters said in a statement.

Watters spent 16 years as the head coach at Winside and more than 20 years coaching other sports, including basketball and softball.

“We are very excited to have someone with her experience and dedication become part of our coaching staff,” Activities Director John Erwin said. “She really cares about her students and has a great passion for the sport of volleyball. We are excited for her to lead our volleyball program into the future."

The Panthers went 8-22 last season in Class A with five seniors graduating.
